Amoxicillin

Amoxicillin is a penicillin antibiotic. It is used to treat bacterial infections of the chest, ear, nose, urinary tract, throat, and skin. It is also used with other medications to treat stomach ulcers.

Amoxicillin can be supplied as a capsule, tablet, suspension (liquid to be swallowed), or injection.

You should avoid taking antibiotics without a prescription. This will lead to bacteria getting used to how antibiotics work and making treatment of subsequent infections difficult.

You may eat normally while taking amoxicillin.

If you forget to take your prescription, take it as soon as you remember.

If you miss a dose, don’t take a double dose.

If your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose and take the next one.

You should take antibiotics for the duration prescribed by your doctor, even if you feel better before the end of the given period.

This completely clears the infection and prevents bacteria from developing mechanisms against medications.

Amoxicillin doesn’t affect your ability to drive or operate machinery.

Amoxicillin isn’t addictive.

Amoxicillin hasn’t been shown to affect sexual performance, fertility or contraceptives.

You can take amoxicillin while pregnant or breastfeeding.
